Self-Employed Tax Strategies

Self-employed individuals always cringe at the amount of taxes the pay to the IRS and state. Here are tax strategies for self-employed individuals that reduce those tax amounts.

Tax Strategies

The good news is being self-employed is one of the best tax strategies out there. Unlike a salaried employee, the full scope of tax credits and deductions available in the tax code are now available to you. The key, of course, is understanding the available deductions and organizing your business in a manner that allows you to maximize the write-offs.

The number one tax strategy for self-employed individuals is to keep receipts for every business expense and write them off. Practically anything can be deducted, so do it. Acceptable expenses include cell phone usage, business mileage, office supplies, home office deductions including part of mortgage or rent and so on. If you’ve filed a tax return while self-employed, you are probably already aware of this so lets move on to more specific tax strategies for self-employed individuals.

Maximizing you non-capital losses can result in major tax savings. If your expenses exceed your income for a year, you obviously will not have to pay taxes for that year. What most people don’t realize, however, is that such losses can be carried forward for seven years and deducted against future income. Alternatively, the same losses can be carried backward three years to recover past taxes paid. The end result of this situation is you can turn a bad business year into an income generator by applying the losses to taxes in other years which effectively wipes out your tax bill for those years.

Another tax strategy is to look at your side businesses. If you have one business, you’ll often have a second one that is tailored to making some money off a personal interest. While you are in it mostly because you like it, you may not realize it qualifies as a business and can help you reduce your taxes. Let’s assume you are primarily a self-employed consultant, but also write travel articles on the side. You may view the travel articles as a hobby, but it is in fact a business. If you’ve sold or even tried to sell any of your articles to a publication, all of your expenses related to travel writing can be deducted from your taxable income. This includes trips and so on. These, deductions can significantly reduce your taxable income from the consulting business. Make sure to get a grasp of your overall business efforts, even if you don’t really consider them to be a business.

Consider employing your children to save on taxes. A child under 18 that works for you does not have to pay FICA and so on. If the total wages for the year are under $4,250, they will pay no taxes and you can write off this amount as a legitimate business expense. Of course, the child needs to actually be doing a legitimate business task, but filing and similar manual tasks certainly will qualify.

Tax strategies for the self-employed are plentiful. If you are self-employed, consider getting professional help. A good professional will save you thousands upon thousands of dollars in taxes, more than making up for their fees. Oh, you can also deduct their fees!

Florida new registered paralegal program

The new Florida Registered Paralegal Program becomes effective from this point forward. Applications have already been requested by approximately 300 people, and it is anticipated that many more will download the application today, from the Florida Bar’s Web site.
Applicants will also have to pay $150 to apply. After about two weeks, those applicants who have been approved will receive certificates and welcome packets by mail, notifying them of their acceptance. The program establishes a two-tier system for paralegals, as well as a disciplinary system and Code of Ethics and Responsibility.

First tier paralegals perform delegated, substantive work for lawyers under the lawyer’s supervision.

Education and work experience requirements - or, alternately, a certification from the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) or the National Federation of Paralegal Associates (NFPA) - must be met in order to obtain a tier two paralegal classification.

Within the first three years, paralegals may become Florida Registered Paralegals under a grandfather law, that may not fulfill major requirements.

The Florida Bar Web site includes a list of all of the people that hold the designation.

Thirty hours of continuing education courses over a three-year period, including five hours in either professionalism or ethics courses, are required to remain a Florida Registered Paralegal.
Currently, the lawyer employing or supervising the paralegal–regardless of whether he is a Florida Registered Paralegal or not–is primarily responsible for keeping track of their work.

Master Cleanse: Home Made Colon Cleanse

Foot Detox For Home
Many people want to detox, but are not sure where to begin. In this article we show you how to do this, using a basic cleansing diet. Just keep in mind that it’s better to do it over a weekend or during a holiday, as the diet, although very good for you, can make you feel a bit faint or tired, says dietician Dr Ingrid van Heerden. This is to stimulate your gastric juices, and diet with Master Cleanse. Thermophase Detox produced by Metagenics is designed especially for this purpose and is the product we recommend. Master Cleanse program is highly popular with celebrities in Hollywood. This is done through our sweat feces and urine, which is the reason why you must be on the Master Cleanse

Why Use Master Cleanse Program
Our body is designed to use natural substances. Any foreign substance will elicit a response from the immune system to try and remove it. The liver reduces toxins into compounds that the body can handle and eliminate through the kidneys (as urine), skin (as sweat), lungs (as expelled air) and bowels (as feces). See more on Master Cleanse at Master Cleanse Foot Detox is another simple and easy method of detoxifying. With this procedure you only have to place your foot in basin of salted water that contains ion generators. The ion generators are then supplied with a very low current of electricity which causes the production of positively charged and negatively charged ions that then attract opposite charged particles in the body.

Master Cleanse Benefits:
Master Cleanse is the world most popular diet program. They probably do people loads of good. The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat are filled with man-made chemicals and pesticides that overload the liver and the entire immune system. Studies show that these toxins have been associated with hormone disruption, immune system suppression, reproductive disorders, several types of cancer and other disorders such as allergies. An alarming finding of one study showed that PCB and DDE levels appear to be unexpectedly high in the general population and may actually be increasing. These toxicants were banned decades ago; it was assumed that they would now be almost non-existent in the U.S. population. However, no one really knows. We must now do our best in detoxifying our bodies for better health. So, do start your master cleanse diet today. This epic human tragedy led the Soviet society on a desperate search for ways to detoxify and protect their people from radiation poisoning.

Home Sellers: The Dangers of Overpricing Your Home

When I meet with sellers about listing their home often times I hear the strategy of setting the initial asking price high and then coming down in price if it does not sell. This is really not a good idea in a traditional real estate market.

Over the last few years sellers in Sarasota, Florida were successful using this strategy of listing their property with a high sales. They were successful because Sarasota like other parts of the country was in an extreme sellers market. Our prices were continually going above the most recent sales price.
Now that the market has cooled off a little bit it is necessary to change strategies when deciding on an asking price.

If you start out with too high of a sales price, then decide to drop it later your house has lost that initial flurry of activity that new listings typically get. This strategy could hurt your chances of selling your home quickly.

I think home sellers want to try this strategy hoping to find an uneducated buyer. Our real estate markets have become very efficient. Real estate information is easy to get and it travels quickly. About 3 out of 4 buyers start their home search on the internet. Today’s buyers are more savvy and are more educated. Properties are listed on the MLS and most buyers have access to these listings quickly. The chances of pricing your home very high and selling it to an uneducated buyer is slim.

Lets say you do price your home high and later lower the price. Once your home has been on the market awhile it becomes stale and is harder to get a good offer. Potential buyers always ask how long a home has been on the market. If they see it has been on the market awhile they will make lower offers. By overpricing your home in the beginning, you could actually end up settling for a lower price than you would have normally received.

Quick Tips On Getting Motivated When You Don’t Feel Like It

The secret to getting started on something when you don’t feel like it, is surprising, but easy.

Edward W. Smith, motivational speaker, author and TV show host, who specializes in quick tips on how to move your life ahead even faster, offers the following advice. The secret to starting something when you don’t feel like it, is using what he calls the “Act As If” technique.

With this technique, you act as if you feel like doing something, even though you don’t. You go through the motions of doing what you are avoiding, and act happy and excited about doing it. You exaggerate your feelings on the positive side, while you are beginning to perform the task. Your body “fools” your mind into thinking you really want to do the task, and your mind changes itself into a positive view about the project. This works on basic mood changes as well. If you are in a bad mood and want to be in a good mood, you would stand up, march around the room with your head high, smiling, signing and acting happy. Within 3 minutes you really will be in a good mood.

Plus Size Formal Dresses - There Are Places To Go To Get Them.

So you have that special evening planned and you don’t have a
thing to wear! Well just go online and start shopping for your
plus size formal dresses. Not only will you find what you’re
looking for, but the online retailers of plus size clothing will
also provide you with many tips on what to wear with plus size
formal dresses, such as shoes and scarves and tips on makeup.
They will provide you with any information you would need for
that special evening.

You will find many styles and colors for plus size formal wear,
but a formal dinner is one of the easiest things to dress for.
Try a plain black halter style dress. These dresses just scream
to be accessorized. Try some metallic heels for a very elegant
classic look, add a heart shaped necklace and you’re ready to
go. You can experiment with the accessories and dress yourself
in style. Just don’t overdo it with the plus size formal
dresses. Simple is best to give you that” I’ve got it all” look.

There are other options in formal wear plus size. You can go all
out with the real glamorous look in plus size formal dresses and
add drama by wearing a twist front halter, which is readily
available in plus size formal dresses.

There will be no need for a necklace with this style. Just add
earrings and a bracelet and you’re on your way to an evening of
fun and relaxation knowing you are looking “good”.

You can also wear a satin dress but be sure it is not a form
fitting plus size. Satin has a way of showing all the wrong
things, even in plus size dresses. However, it does look very
elegant and sexy when worn properly. Go all the way by wearing
red or a jewel tone to make you look and feel fabulous.

Keep in mind that in plus size formal dresses you have to stick
with the A line or the low waist dress in order to pull this
off.

Then there is the floaty chiffon style available in plus size
formal wear. Again you have to be careful in plus size not to
wear too much of a layered or ruffled look. This can add pounds
to your look and defeat the purpose of looking your best.

So go ahead and give it your all, show them who you are in the
formal evening gown that you’re wearing. You will turn heads as
you enter the room and those heads will turn all for the right
reason and none of them will have anything to do with the fact
that you wear plus size formal dresses.

If you’re a plus size lady there is still a world of choices in
plus size formal dresses.

The Shutterbug: Finding The Right Wedding Photographer For You

Every wedding deserves to be captured for posterity in print. Your pictures aren’t just any images. They are souvenirs, heirlooms for your descendants to look at and exclaim over. So it makes sense to get a photographer who will really bring out the best images of your special event.

Here are some things you should check when looking for the photographer for your wedding:

- His previous work must appeal to you. Put yourself in the place of the people in the images in his sample albums. Are these how you’d like your pictures to look?

- Confirm if he will be the photographer at your wedding himself or if he will assign someone else. Some shops have many photographers in their stable. You need to see the work of the person who will actually be handling your event.

- Promptness is a very important trait in wedding photographers. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event. His being late will make a difference in your album.

- His attitude and appearance will also be important. You are looking for someone who can make the transition shots very smoothly, has good crowd control and who looks presentable and acceptable at your event. The last thing you need are offended friends and relatives on your wedding day.

- You can’t argue that some people have a great eye and timing. You need someone who can capture the soul of your nuptials, not someone who will make you all look like you’re posing for high school class picture.

- Cost is the last item on your list. Once you’ve found the photographer you like it’s best to find out if your budget can accommodate his fee. Keep in mind that the higher his skills, the higher his fees will be too.

Do you want to become a Medical Coder?

It is possible to receive training in medical coding almost anywhere, however you may find that it is not as easy as you might expect to find a good quality program. As you would expect, almost all the training curriculum focuses on academic training. Although this is very important, one cannot be truly successful until they undergo training in a hands-on, real-world environment. This training is essential in order to prepare students for their chosen career.

We highly recommend programs that allow a students to learn medical coding from the comfort of their home, at their own pace, and on a full or part time basis so they do not have to quit their current job. Though the time and money investment of training isn’t something that everyone wants, it is the most productive means of learning medical coding and getting a good job in the industry.

Studying for a medical coding training program can be expensive and time consuming. Once you have committed to one it is both expensive and exasperating to pull out of the program and start again in another program. The decision is very important. How do you distinguish a good medical coding training program from the not-so-good ones? What sets the quality schools apart from the rest?

If you are like all the other students, you goal is to obtain a job when you graduate. Earning a degree is your ticket to success as a medical coder. In the end, you need to represent that you are capable of the work by showing that you earned a quality education with a focus on working with hands-on training.

Why Do People Skydive?

Skydivers - Most people say we’re crazy. Some say we have a death wish. Psychologists say people with an inclination to take high risks are a necessary part of the continuation of our species.

We are people from all walks of life. Students, blue-collar workers, engineers, doctors, nurses, you name it. What we have in common is an infinity for a high-risk sport, skydiving. Some also participate in other sports like scuba diving, kayaking, rock climbing, skiing. There is a sense of camaraderie among us. A sense that we understand a greater truth that is missed by most people.

Mentally it is an incredibly refreshing break from “society”. Skydiving is a super stress reliever. When you are skydiving, you focus on that skydive and nothing else. This keeps away all the distractions of life. No room for stray thoughts or worries here. The intense focus and the pump of adrenaline leave you feeling mentally and physically cleansed.

And yes, the adrenaline is no doubt a part of it. Your body responds to the rush of adrenaline into it, bringing with it a sense of excitement and a surge of energy. Our human bodies are made to produce adrenaline as a survival mechanism and it is being regarded more and more as a necessary part of the human experience and overall health. Something any skydiver could have already told you a long time ago.

Stepping out the door of a flying airplane has other benefits too. It makes you mentally tough. It takes a lot of mind control to go against what you have been taught about danger since a child, get a hold of your thoughts, and realize that yes, it is okay to step out that door. You acquire an increased awareness of all that is around you. You develop a confidence in yourself and a quick response as events happen around you. The sense of accomplishment is incredible. Knowing you met your fear, took control, and pushed yourself to take that step flows over into other parts of your life.

When I did my first skydive a group of us from work went. I organized the outing. Everyone had a blast but I was the only person who did more than one jump. Later, in talking with one of the guys in the group he said to me - I know that whatever I face in life, I can remember that I went up in that plane and did a skydive. If I can summon the courage to do that, I can do anything. It was great.

Okay, so enough of the psychobabble mumbo jumbo. What is the sensation? When you step out the door of a flying airplane you are in freefall until the parachute is deployed. Most skydives are done from around 10,000 ft. to 14,000 ft. providing the skydiver anywhere from 30 seconds to 70 seconds of freefall time. Stick your arm out the window of a car doing 60 mph then imagine your whole body out there going twice as fast - then you start to get a little of the idea of what skydiving feels like.

No one I’ve ever talked to has been able to put into words the sensation of skydiving. Even asking first time jumpers - is there any way to describe what you just did - only elicits a wide-eyed, grinning, no way.

Freefall is such a stupendous sense of freedom. You are flying through the air, able to move your body in 3D. You can fly forward, back-up, move sideways, speed up how fast you are falling and slow down how fast you are falling. Yes, you are continually falling. But during that time you are definitely flying your body. You can do flips and twists. You can stand on your feet or stand on your head. There are absolutely no limits as to which direction you can move your body.

And let there be no doubt - there is not a plane around that can give you the same view. What an awesome sight to view 360 degrees around you - the sky, the horizon, the incredible beauty of the world, right there for you to see with no obstructions. To feel you are a part of that sky.

The parachute flies like a glider; responding to the pilot’s input and slicing you through the sky. It can be flown slowly and smoothly or fast and wild. But either way, with correct pilot input, it would bring you safely and softly to landing on the earth.

Why do we skydive? Who will ever understand the beauty, the freedom, the rush but someone who has been there? Truly, the sky is our playground.

Lori Steffen is an experienced skydiver who has won two medals in USA national skydiving championships, both in freestyle skydiving. Visit our site devoted to tandem sky diving at http://www.tandemskydivinginfo.com
