You are far more likely to successfully write and publish your book if you follow these tips before you [start writing] write a single chapter.

1. Write your print or eBook’s working title.

Knowing your book title helps you focus and answer the readers’ number one question about your book’s topic. Some non-fiction needs subtitles as well. It’s better to be clear than clever, but the ultimate winning combination is clear and clever. Which titles grab you? “Passion At Any Age: Twelve Ways to Unleash It,” “Self-Promotion for the Creative Person.” or “Quadruple your Book’s Online Sales in Four Months.” Your title is the number one “Essential 7 Hot-Selling Point” of your book.

2. Write your book’s thesis.

A thesis reflects the number one benefit of your book. It answers your reader’s question, “How will this book solve my challenge of…?” Knowing the thesis before you write the book keeps you on track so you write focused, compelling copy that is easy to read. All chapters should support your book’s thesis. For “10 Non-Techie Ways to Market your Book Online,” the thesis is: “No spam ways to quadruple book sales in four months.” A best title often includes your thesis.

3. Test your book’s significance.

While most writers fear their book won’t sell, your book is significant if it has these elements: It presents useful information. It has the potential to positively affect people’s lives. It’s lively, humorous. It helps answer important reader questions. It creates a deeper understanding of human nature. If your book has only two elements, it will be worth writing. With three or more, it’s a potential great seller. Make your book a priority so you can express your mission helping others to a better life, and at the same time make a consistent lifelong income.

4. Pinpoint your preferred audience.

When you give your book an angle, it sells much better. No, not everyone will want to read your book. When you write for one audience at a time, each story, tip, or how to’s pack in so much more power. Writing for the general audience is all right if you are already famous–think of the Chicken Soup series.

Choose and post your audience’s picture and profile right in front of you as you write. Remember to multiply sales exponentially, think of the small business audience on the net, ready and willing to buy either your print or eBook now. Knowing your audience before you write will make each chapter, line, or paragraph be organized, compelling and easy to read. This idea transfers well to Web sites, seminars, teleclasses, and ecommerce too.

Create an audience profile. How old are your prospective readers? Male? Female? Are they interested in personal growth, science fiction, mystery, how-to books? What challenges do they face? Are they business people? What magazines and Web sites do they like? Are they Internet savvy? What causes do they support? Will they be willing to spend $15-$30 on your book? Where will they go to buy it? (not the brick and mortar book store)

5. Know your book’s 30-60 second “tell and sell” before your write it.

Like a billboard, this 2-3 sentence blurb will be so useful to you when you meet people at a networking meeting or in the elevator, and have only a few minutes to talk about your book.

Don’t go on and one in generalities. Give your potential reader a reason to buy. . It’s the hook, not the book.

First, write down your title. Second, write down your preferred audience. Third, list your book’s top three benefits. Last, compare your book with a famous author is your field. “Passion at Any Age” is the “Artists Way” for seniors or “Write your Print and eBook at the Same Time” starts where Dan Poynter left off with the how to’s to put a chapter together so it sells, and pre-marketing tips in the “Essential Hot-Selling Points.”

Write and practice this short statement. Be willing to edit so it’s laser fresh–maybe 5-15 times. Ask your associates for feedback. Which benefits impressed them? What do they remember most from it?

Writing a book is so much easier when you approach it in small bites. Knowing these ten parts help you ask and answer the specific questions and challenges your audience wants solutions for. One main concern by officials in the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), is that BPL will interfere with radio systems including fire, police, short-wave and land mobile. There are other groups who are taking the initiative in realizing this potential including the IEEE which has begun to develop IEEE P1675, “Standard for Broadband over Power Line Hardware.”

This technology has gained national attention with reports by the Wall Street Journal that industry powerhouses Google and Goldman Sachs have invested nearly $100 million into Current Communications Group, a company that provides high-speed Internet access over electrical power lines. According to Reuters, CCG will use the financing to deploy voice, video and data services in domestic and global markets. IBM is also currently researching the use of electrical power lines to provide internet access by opening a BPL center in Houston with CenterPoint Energy although IBM has declined to put a dollar value on the amount invested.

Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, WIMAX

WiMAX, also known as IEEE 802.16, is a standards-based wireless technology that provides broadband connections over long distances and is intended for wireless “metropolitan area networks”. It can be used for wireless networking in much the same way WiFi is used today while also allowing for more efficient bandwidth use and interference avoidance. WiMAX has a broadband wireless access range of 30 miles compared to only 100 - 300 feet for a WiFi wireless local area network.

WiMAX can be used for a number of applications, including “last mile” broadband connections, hotspots, and high-speed connectivity for businesses. Alvarion, a global organization headquartered in Israel that supplies integrated Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) solutions, has announced it will supply satellite provider DirecTV Group Inc. with equipment that uses WIMAX technology in order to enhance customer upstream bandwidth requirements. By implementing “last mile” broadband connections, DirecTV would then be able to supply faster connections to rural areas where it would cost millions to lay down the cable lines necessary for high speed. Another application under consideration is gaming. Microsoft is looking to make WiMax a standard feature in its Xbox 360. This would allow gamers with similar equipment to interact with other players without any internet access. All the funcionality of WiFi with improved range and reduced network latency makes WiMAX a very attractive alternative.

When cancer strikes, we may turn to prayer.

By “prayer,” I simply mean connecting with the sacred. Prayers are often
directed to a higher power, but they don’t have to be.

Often, prayers involving cancer ask for a particular outcome. We might
pray for a cure, or for the results of our next test to be favorable, or for
freedom from unwanted side-effects of treatment.

Such prayers offer a release for intense emotions and connect us with
our Source of meaning, power, hope and unconditional love.

On the other hand, if our prayers don’t bring the results that we asked
for, we may experience spiritual distress.

Here are some tips for keeping your experience with “asking” prayer
positive:

• Pray honestly. This is no time to hold back!
• Remember that prayer doesn’t require words. Tears, sighs, and
  simply relaxing into the sacred can all be prayer.
• Don’t worry about falling asleep during prayer. Moms don’t mind
  when their babies fall asleep in their arms. Your higher power won’t
  mind either.
• Ask others to pray with and for you. Even if you don’t see the answer
  to their prayers, right away, you’ll get a lift from the love of the pray-ers. li>
• Believe that your prayer will be answered in wondrous ways — some
  of which you may not see.
• Don’t worry about praying the “right”
  way. When a toddler blurts out, “Wah nuk,” a loving parent answers,
  “Oh, do you want some milk? Here it is!” In a similar way, the One we
  pray to can make sense of our prayers even if we sound like nonsense
  to ourselves.
• Conclude “asking” prayer with thanksgiving to boost your hope and
  serenity.

An ill-presented speech can bore the audience into a daze, somewhere between sleepiness and death and thus defeating the very purpose of public speaking, whereas a well-researched and properly presented speech can turn even a boring subject into an interesting one. For the speaker to achieve this, he must go about the presentation in a logical and methodical manner. Slowly building up the case is a good approach. Bombarding the audience with too any statistics can simply kill the spirit. Such is the power of public speaking that great leaders have been able to influence and motivate hundreds and thousands of people by this virtue alone.

Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King and Adolf Hitler were some of the greatest orators of all times (not everybody guided the people in the right direction, though). These great orators motivated thousands of people to follow them, simply by virtue of their oratorical skills. There are many others. This amply demonstrates the power of public speaking.

In spite of its importance, this is not a virtue to be found easily. People who are confident and poised otherwise lose their calm as soon as they find themselves in front of a large audience. All hell breaks loose in front of a gathering and the carefully preserved calm and poise goes down the drain. Such is the fear of public speaking that heart beats increase, perspiration starts, legs go weak and even stammering takes place. People simply become dumbfounded, especially if the audience is large and/or an important one.

I first tasted this fear when I was around 13 years old in standard VIII. I was participating in a debate where I was to speak in front of 400-500 students of my school. I had prepared my topic well (though can’t remember the topic now) and was fully confident about my ability although I had never spoken in front of more than 2-3 people till then. I was sure that I was going to be adjudged the best speaker, but all hell broke loose as soon as I took to the stage. When I saw that there were so many children staring at me, I was simply dumbfounded. I literally started shaking and forgot everything which I had prepared so painstakingly. Children started jeering at me by gestures, especially the children from my own class. A slight murmur had begun. It took me almost 2-3 minutes of my allotted time before I could regain some sort of composure and somehow deliver what I had intended to say in the first place. The term for what I underwent that day 24 years ago is stage fright or glossophobia. And this is a fear which I am not the only one to have come across. The majority of the people encounter it at some point of life.

The ability to be a successful public speaker lies in exposure. Only by sufficient practice can one deal with the fear of public speaking. As the famous saying ‘genius is one percent brain and ninety nine percent hard work’ clearly demonstrates, it can be overcome by repeated exposure and practice in front of an audience. Another clue to successful public speaking is knowledge. Any audience can be effectively dealt with if sufficient knowledge about the subject at hand exists. Without a complete understanding of the subject, even a slight flaw could lead to catastrophic results. The fear of public speaking can also be dealt with by undergoing professional speaking courses, where the issue is approached in a scientific manner by assigning various types of exercises. There the students learn by observation and practice. They are helped in overcoming the fear by providing them with constructive suggestions and public speaking exercises. Students can also improve by learning to speak in front of friends and acquaintances where they can be sure that they won’t laughed at if they fumble and make mistakes. The fear can also be overcome by speaking in front of the mirror.

Always remember that by knowledge, practice and experience, you can overcome your fear of public speaking and deliver your speech in front of any audience in the world.

Many people, particularly students, would love to be able to absorb information faster. But before retaining information, they have to go through the first stage of learning, which is reading.

1) Relax.

3) Get rid of the structure words.

They only serve to beautify, yet you can understand what you are reading even without them. Try not to focus too much attention on structure words.

4) Practice, practice, practice.

When I started exercising with weights, I can only lift the lighter ones. As the time goes by, I slowly add more and more weights as my body tends to adjust and become more comfortable carrying heavier ones.

The same concept goes for speed reading. Set a goal. Figure out how fast you can read, then create a plan to increase your ability.

If you can read 200 words per minute, set a goal to read 250 words a minute. After accomplishing this feat, set a goal to read 300 words per minute.

This takes time and practice, but the effort is all worth it. If this is your first time to set such a goal, read first those materials you are familiar with.

Carry on with more difficult ones as you progress. This way, you’re not overwhelming yourself with understanding different new words and at the same time developing your speed reading skills. In no time at all you will read faster.
