Consumers understand that when there is more competition in a market, there are lower prices. This is especially true in the computer industry where it is reported that 68% of households have a computer. According to the Computer Industry Almanac, the worldwide number of Internet users will exceed 1 billion this year with the United States leading with over 185 million users. The number of users will continue to increase as well as competitors, forcing companies to offer faster connections at a cheaper price. Two technologies that will lend a hand in allowing new players into the Broadband market are BPL and WIMAX.Broadband Over Power Lines, BPL
BPL is a technology that allows Internet data to be transmitted over utility power lines and is also referred to as Power-line Communications or PLC. The technology works by modulating high-frequency radio waves with the digital signals from the Internet. These radio waves are fed into the utility grid at specific points, then travel along the wires and pass through the utility transformers into homes and businesses.
One main concern by officials in the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), is that BPL will interfere with radio systems including fire, police, short-wave and land mobile. There are other groups who are taking the initiative in realizing this potential including the IEEE which has begun to develop IEEE P1675, “Standard for Broadband over Power Line Hardware.”This technology has gained national attention with reports by the Wall Street Journal that industry powerhouses Google and Goldman Sachs have invested nearly $100 million into Current Communications Group, a company that provides high-speed Internet access over electrical power lines. According to Reuters, CCG will use the financing to deploy voice, video and data services in domestic and global markets. IBM is also currently researching the use of electrical power lines to provide internet access by opening a BPL center in Houston with CenterPoint Energy although IBM has declined to put a dollar value on the amount invested.
Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, WIMAX
WiMAX, also known as IEEE 802.16, is a standards-based wireless technology that provides broadband connections over long distances and is intended for wireless “metropolitan area networks”. It can be used for wireless networking in much the same way WiFi is used today while also allowing for more efficient bandwidth use and interference avoidance. WiMAX has a broadband wireless access range of 30 miles compared to only 100 - 300 feet for a WiFi wireless local area network.
WiMAX can be used for a number of applications, including “last mile” broadband connections, hotspots, and high-speed connectivity for businesses. Alvarion, a global organization headquartered in Israel that supplies integrated Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) solutions, has announced it will supply satellite provider DirecTV Group Inc. with equipment that uses WIMAX technology in order to enhance customer upstream bandwidth requirements. By implementing “last mile” broadband connections, DirecTV would then be able to supply faster connections to rural areas where it would cost millions to lay down the cable lines necessary for high speed. Another application under consideration is gaming. Microsoft is looking to make WiMax a standard feature in its Xbox 360. This would allow gamers with similar equipment to interact with other players without any internet access. All the funcionality of WiFi with improved range and reduced network latency makes WiMAX a very attractive alternative.

Comments are off for this postHow to Pray Your Way Through Cancer, Part I
When cancer strikes, we may turn to prayer.
By “prayer,” I simply mean connecting with the sacred. Prayers are often
directed to a higher power, but they don’t have to be.
Often, prayers involving cancer ask for a particular outcome. We might
pray for a cure, or for the results of our next test to be favorable, or for
freedom from unwanted side-effects of treatment.
Such prayers offer a release for intense emotions and connect us with
our Source of meaning, power, hope and unconditional love.
On the other hand, if our prayers don’t bring the results that we asked
for, we may experience spiritual distress.
Here are some tips for keeping your experience with “asking” prayer
positive:
- Pray honestly. This is no time to hold back!
- Remember that prayer doesn’t require words. Tears, sighs, and
simply relaxing into the sacred can all be prayer. - Don’t worry about falling asleep during prayer. Moms don’t mind
when their babies fall asleep in their arms. Your higher power won’t
mind either. - Ask others to pray with and for you. Even if you don’t see the answer
to their prayers, right away, you’ll get a lift from the love of the pray-ers.
li> - Believe that your prayer will be answered in wondrous ways — some
of which you may not see. - Don’t worry about praying the “right”
way. When a toddler blurts out, “Wah nuk,” a loving parent answers,
“Oh, do you want some milk? Here it is!” In a similar way, the One we
pray to can make sense of our prayers even if we sound like nonsense
to ourselves. - Conclude “asking” prayer with thanksgiving to boost your hope and
serenity.

Comments are off for this postThe Fear Of Public Speaking
Wikipedia defines public speaking as ’speaking to a group of people in a structured, deliberate manner’. Providing information to people is the main aim of public speaking. This information could be only for understanding an issue or it could be for taking an action. It is mainly a form of one-way communication. It primarily depends on the ability of the speaker whether he can only inform the listener or change and affect the views of the listener as well. Public speaking has immense power. A balanced and well delivered speech can motivate people in favor of something whereas a poor and shoddy delivery could damage a solid view point or a product. An ill-presented speech can bore the audience into a daze, somewhere between sleepiness and death and thus defeating the very purpose of public speaking, whereas a well-researched and properly presented speech can turn even a boring subject into an interesting one. For the speaker to achieve this, he must go about the presentation in a logical and methodical manner. Slowly building up the case is a good approach. Bombarding the audience with too any statistics can simply kill the spirit. Such is the power of public speaking that great leaders have been able to influence and motivate hundreds and thousands of people by this virtue alone.
Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King and Adolf Hitler were some of the greatest orators of all times (not everybody guided the people in the right direction, though). These great orators motivated thousands of people to follow them, simply by virtue of their oratorical skills. There are many others. This amply demonstrates the power of public speaking.
In spite of its importance, this is not a virtue to be found easily. People who are confident and poised otherwise lose their calm as soon as they find themselves in front of a large audience. All hell breaks loose in front of a gathering and the carefully preserved calm and poise goes down the drain. Such is the fear of public speaking that heart beats increase, perspiration starts, legs go weak and even stammering takes place. People simply become dumbfounded, especially if the audience is large and/or an important one.
I first tasted this fear when I was around 13 years old in standard VIII. I was participating in a debate where I was to speak in front of 400-500 students of my school. I had prepared my topic well (though can’t remember the topic now) and was fully confident about my ability although I had never spoken in front of more than 2-3 people till then. I was sure that I was going to be adjudged the best speaker, but all hell broke loose as soon as I took to the stage. When I saw that there were so many children staring at me, I was simply dumbfounded. I literally started shaking and forgot everything which I had prepared so painstakingly. Children started jeering at me by gestures, especially the children from my own class. A slight murmur had begun. It took me almost 2-3 minutes of my allotted time before I could regain some sort of composure and somehow deliver what I had intended to say in the first place. The term for what I underwent that day 24 years ago is stage fright or glossophobia. And this is a fear which I am not the only one to have come across. The majority of the people encounter it at some point of life.
The ability to be a successful public speaker lies in exposure. Only by sufficient practice can one deal with the fear of public speaking. As the famous saying ‘genius is one percent brain and ninety nine percent hard work’ clearly demonstrates, it can be overcome by repeated exposure and practice in front of an audience. Another clue to successful public speaking is knowledge. Any audience can be effectively dealt with if sufficient knowledge about the subject at hand exists. Without a complete understanding of the subject, even a slight flaw could lead to catastrophic results. The fear of public speaking can also be dealt with by undergoing professional speaking courses, where the issue is approached in a scientific manner by assigning various types of exercises. There the students learn by observation and practice. They are helped in overcoming the fear by providing them with constructive suggestions and public speaking exercises. Students can also improve by learning to speak in front of friends and acquaintances where they can be sure that they won’t laughed at if they fumble and make mistakes. The fear can also be overcome by speaking in front of the mirror.
Always remember that by knowledge, practice and experience, you can overcome your fear of public speaking and deliver your speech in front of any audience in the world.

Looking For A Heartburn Herbal Remedy? Try Herbal Teas!
Tea has been used for thousands of years to soothe and ease a variety of health problems. In fact, tea is the most consumed beverage in the world, aside from water. Herbal teas have also proven to be a good choice for those searching for a natural heartburn herbal remedy.
Black, green and red teas contain polyphenols which is an antioxidant that helps to protect our body from free radical damage. The polyphenols found in tea have been shown to provide anti-cancer properties through numerous studies. Additionally, these same studies have suggested that drinking several cups of tea each day may also reduce the risk of gastric and esophageal cancers.
But not all teas are created equal. The leaves from black, green and red teas come from a warm-weather evergreen tree known as Camellia sinensis. However, what we consider “herbal teas” do not come from this tree at all. In fact, herbal teas aren’t really teas but are infusions called “tisane” that are made from various herbs, flowers, roots, and other parts of some plants. Tisane does not contain as much polyphenols as true tea does, although they can be very beneficial in other ways.
When looking at how to get rid of heartburn, you may find some “herbal teas” are more advantageous in regards to easing heartburn symptoms, acid reflux and other gastrointestinal disorders, than others. Unfortunately, some teas may aggravate these conditions rather than relieve them, so choose your herbal tea remedy wisely.
So, if you are looking for a way to relieve heartburn symptoms or other problems associated with digestive orders, such as GERD, here are a few herbal teas you may want to consider trying:
Chamomile Tea
This is a very popular herbal tea used to treat a variety of health concerns such as indigestion, heartburn, anxiety, PMS, sleep disturbances and easing anxiety. It also helps to relieve the inflamed or irritated mucus membranes of the digestive tract (good for acid reflux sufferers) and helps to promote normal digestion. Used topically, it can also promote the healing of minor skin irritations and scrapes. However, since chamomile is found in the ragweed family, it could cause a reaction to anyone who has allergies to ragweed.
Marshmallow Tea
No, not the big fluffy things you roast over the fire. In this case, it is the root that is used in herbal medicinal products. When taken internally, such as in a tea, marshmallow is known to ease bladder infections, and coat and soothe the gastrointestinal tract, sore throats, ease respiratory problems and promote healing of the urinary tract. It can also be purchased as a topical formula for use on burns, scrapes and inflammatory skin disorders.
Peppermint Tea
The mint leaves are used to brew a delightfully refreshing herbal tea that contains no caffeine. However, there are conflicting reports on whether to use peppermint in any form when suffering from heartburn and/or acid reflux.
In some cases, it is said to ease stomach and digestive problems. The oil within the peppermint helps to stimulate the flow of bile to the stomach and relieve gas pains, calm heartburn, and settle an upset stomach and nausea. On the other hand, studies have also indicated that drinking peppermint, spearmint or other strongly spiced teas actually causes the LES to relax even more, resulting in additional acid reflux. The LES (lower esophageal sphincter) is a one-way valve that separates the esophagus from the stomach and allows food and liquid to enter the stomach. When this sphincter doesn’t close properly or is relaxed enough, food, liquid and acid can reflux back up into the esophagus causing heartburn. Since the reports are conflicting on how effective peppermint tea may be in aiding heartburn relief, you may just wish to try it for yourself and see which group you fall into.
Aloe Vera Juice
Although this is not a tea, I’ve included it in this article as Aloe Vera can be taken in liquid form. The liquid is made from the gel found within the Aloe Vera leaves and works to help soothe the digestive system plus protect against ulcers. In topical form, it is great to use on minor burns, sunburn, cuts, and scalds.
Many plants and herbs can be made into herbal teas that have a variety of beneficial properties. The above list should give you a starting point on some of the more favorable beverages that help with heartburn and other digestive orders.
A note about peptic ulcers: Many teas can aggravate the healing of peptic ulcers. Chamomile, however, seems to have a soothing effect. It contains a high flavonoid called Apigenin which helps to inhibit the growth of Helicobacter Pylori, the organism responsible for causing peptic ulcers.

Comments are off for this postRead Faster - 4 Brilliant Tips To Read Faster
Use these 4 brilliant tips to speed read faster than ever.
Many people, particularly students, would love to be able to absorb information faster. But before retaining information, they have to go through the first stage of learning, which is reading.
For many individuals who are pressed for time, have to read faster has become a necessity. However, it’s not just the reading part that is important. Equally essential is for the reader to fully understand the words coming out from the book or paper.
Here are some great tips to read faster and and comprehend more.
1) Relax.
If you’re in the stressed mode, it would be much more difficult to concentrate; hence, it would just be a lot harder for the information to sink in.
2) Know what you want.
Focus on the areas that you really need to learn. Some people read all parts of a book, when all they need to know is a specific chapter. Know your priority. If you need to find out about a certain subject, go to the Table of Contents and search for the heading that best suits your need. If you need to learn more, then adjust accordingly. The important thing is to weed out the stuffs that you don’t currently need.
3) Get rid of the structure words.
Did you know that around 60% of the words we read are structure words? Examples are the words “the, or, and.” They are essential in the structure of the sentences; but when you ignore them, they basically mean the same thing. They only serve to beautify, yet you can understand what you are reading even without them. Try not to focus too much attention on structure words.
4) Practice, practice, practice.
When I started exercising with weights, I can only lift the lighter ones. As the time goes by, I slowly add more and more weights as my body tends to adjust and become more comfortable carrying heavier ones.
The same concept goes for speed reading. Set a goal. Figure out how fast you can read, then create a plan to increase your ability.
If you can read 200 words per minute, set a goal to read 250 words a minute. After accomplishing this feat, set a goal to read 300 words per minute.
This takes time and practice, but the effort is all worth it. If this is your first time to set such a goal, read first those materials you are familiar with.
Carry on with more difficult ones as you progress. This way, you’re not overwhelming yourself with understanding different new words and at the same time developing your speed reading skills. In no time at all you will read faster.

Often times when a relationship ends there are things left unsaid and questions left unanswered. Through the use of this technique you can resolve these issues and allow yourself to move on and let go of the past. This technique can also be used with those that are now deceased.
Sit yourself in a quiet space where you will not be disturbed. Ideally have an empty chair or seat opposite you. Close your eyes for a moment, and take a few deep breaths and allow yourself to relax and let go.
When you open your eyes imagine that you can see the person with whom things are left unsaid sitting opposite you. All you need to do is to pretend they are there, so if you think you are having problems visualising just pretend.
Say to the person whatever is on your mind, whatever you want to release. If there is a situation that you want to resolve, for example the break down of a relationship then talk about that.
When you have finished you may want a response from them. If so then go and sit in the other chair and pretend you are them answering back. Keep your mind focused on what was said when you do and allow the answer to flow. Remember that if you consciously say what you want to hear rather than what you really hear you are only cheating yourself, no one else.
When they have finished speaking, sit back in your original chair.
Keep up the conversation, moving from chair to chair assuming the other person’s persona when in their chair until the conversation comes to an end. Then return to your original chair and thank them for their time before going about your business.
This technique is incredibly valuable for letting go of pain, guilt and hurt from any sort of relationship, not just romantic relationships. Often when performing this technique you will be surprised by the answers that you receive from the other person.
Through a technique such as this you are able to finally let go of pain from the past so that you can move on. The pain that you have been holding on to from these past relationships may well have been preventing you from having the fulfilling relationship you’ve always dreamt of.
You can also engage your sub-conscious in releasing the past through the Releasing Emotional Blocks Audio CD and the Karmic Cleansing program, which are both available from www.musicforchange.com.
Enjoy using this technique, and remember, it can be used for many more things than just releasing relationship pain.

Comments are off for this postColour Your Life
The colours of the rainbow speak volumes and nature has its own language for communicating with us and lighting up our life through colour. Imagine for a moment what our world would be like if we only had black and white, and the in-between shades of grey.
Each colour has its own vibrational frequency. Yellow represents sunshine, happiness and creativity; red strength and courage; blue patience and stability; pink love and compassion; purple royalty and power; green healing, growth and prosperity. White is a symbol of truth, purity and cleanliness.
Any decorator or designer will tell you how important colour is in our lives. People’s interest in colour therapy has increased enormously in recent years. It is true that by looking at certain colours, or being surrounded by them, either through wall colourings or flowers and fabrics, there is an influence on the moods of the soul.
Since the face is the mirror of the mind, moods do without doubt reflect through the ‘colour’, i.e. the state, of our being. When sick, we are pale. When pleased, we are as ‘pink as peach’ and when shy we go ‘red as a tomato’. But is it really possible to change moods simply by sitting in front of a colour? Since colours make us ‘feel’ something, the soul is therefore responding to that particular frequency. This is reflected in our aura and if we take a moment to look within we find how colourful our world truly is. If we have weak and negative thoughts, doubts and worries, we ‘cloud’ our internal colours, ‘dull’ those shades, and we are left feeling depressed, without beauty or radiance. Everything seems colourless. Yet in those moments, we should remember that every cloud has a silver lining.
Each colour is in fact a virtue and the more we apply it to ourselves and others, the more we reinforce that tint on the soul. By emerging more and more virtues, we make the soul and our life colourful. Every virtue can be likened to a flower, each having its own fragrance, and together creating a beautifully scented bouquet.
This week, bring some colour into your life by emerging your hidden virtues. Be courageous. Be peaceful with yourself. Share love with those around you. Be kind to someone new in your life. Be generous towards those less privileged. But most of all be pure in your motives. These are some of the colours that will ‘cheer up’ the colour palette of your life.
Funnily enough, when we are full of all colours, we arrive at white, which is the compound of all colours, symbolizing simplicity and contentment!

Comments are off for this postHow To Become An Entrepreneur - Fast Easy Money
Some people become an entrepreneur by accident. Others do the research, but either way, they follow money. If your wish is to do entrepreneurial activities for a living then you should research it. The main reason is getting up to speed rapidly so you can start earning the fast, easy, money that entrepreneurs actually earn.
According to the dictionary, an entrepreneur is “A person who organizes, operates, and assumes the risk for a business venture” But to read this correctly you must understand that risk and profits are interchangeable. They are the same thing. A successful entrepreneur simply does this…..
They manufacture familiar circumstances from existing found realities and deploy creative effort to make those circumstances yield the typical result which is usually a large or ongoing profit.
So what that means is you find a system or set of circumstances that yield you a profit, then you repeat that process as often as possible. When you are young or simply lacking experience you may not have that initial profitable experience to be able to re-manufacture at present. But that’s OK. There are others who have been before you and made their fortune and now are prepared to put pen to paper so that you can profit from their experience.
This is why at the beginning of this article I suggested that first you should prepare yourself. Arm yourself with knowledge before you begin. Many move from project to project without any particular success and it becomes an addictive habit of hope and deploy. Every project you do will yield large profits if you learn how first then begin to test your knew knowledge in the real world and finally determine for yourself how you will approach things then finally take action.
Entrepreneurs control deals and make money. Its my opinion the closer you are to the deal, the more money you make. Meaning if your interest is in product, you will always get side tracked. For example, you may love fashion and wish to get involved in the world of fashion. But an entrepreneur is a different animal. An entrepreneur makes money through doing deals. If you want to be around the fashion world, then your focus may be a little off target. Entrepreneurs are deal makers, they typically are a “jack of all trades but master of none” because they pay others for the knowledge they need. They don’t need to spend years learning an apprenticeship in products or services. They have no time for that. They want the money. Fast and clean.
The apprenticeship they serve is in deal making.
