The board was 10-5-9-10 at the turn and Moon bet, which Cada called. The river brought a 3, and Cada doubled up making Moon short stacked. * For the final hand, Cada held pocket 9s against Moon’s suited Q-J. Cada moved all-in, Moon called and the pocket 9s held up for Cada, winning him poker’s most prestigious prize.

A poker hand is a story. With each deal of the deck, a player takes his hand and acts on it, either bowing out early, or pressing forward, trying to make an even better hand out of what he’s given. In online poker tournaments, an ‘add on’ is a payment made by players still in the tournament before a certain, prespecified stage of the event wherein for some small to medium fee on top of the original buy in, they can ‘add on’ to their current stack of chips. Measuring the value of the chips versus the cost implied can be vital to the decision, but in most cases it seems that if an add on is allowed, to not take it is to set yourself back in relation to the other players.

Some players find it wise to avoid add on related poker online tournaments across the board, while others see them as a good way to pad your stack and allow a slightly looser stream of early play. Regardless, the notion of the add on is certainly one to take into consideration when selecting the kind of tournament you want to enter.

Playing the big blind in a poker tournament is terrific if nobody raises you, because it allows you to play poker hands that nobody, including yourself, would ever play under normal circumstances. It’s like having a stealth hand. I mean think about it-you could come in with a 6-3 off suit, and come out with the biggest hand. Let’s use that hand for an example. Say you’re the big blind, waiting for your cards. You’re hoping for some paired face cards so you don’t have to throw your blind away at the first sign of a raise. You peel up the corners of your hand and instead of two A’s looking at you there’s a 6 and a 3. You want to throw you cards and your blind across the table, but you’re a pro, so you keep your face blank and look around the table. No one raises, so you check and decide to see the flop before you fold. Here’s where your advantage as the big blind comes in.

If you miss the flop, you can fold and you haven’t lost anything. Even better, if you flop two pair or better, you’re sitting pretty. Think about it, no one else went it with low cards, so if the flop is 6-K-3, you know you’re the only one with two pair. Even if someone’s paired a King, you’ve got control of the poker hand, and it didn’t cost you a thing.

Another reason why gambling and online poker should be legalized everywhere is because it’s a leisure activity that helps people get through tough times.

Any gambling laws that remain on the books are antiquated remnants of a time when poker players were shooting each other in saloons and many gambling rings were run by the mafia.

Nowadays, most law abiding citizens just want to play some online poker in their spare time, or not have to potentially drive 5-6 hours to go to a casino.

As poker players, no matter where in the world we live, we must stand up and demand of our elected representatives to vote against ant anti-gambling legislation.

Las Vegas, for example, has gambling legal in virtually every public establishment, including grocery stores, and it’s a boomtown that is the fastest growing city in America.

And has been for some time. So clearly, the majority of people are not anti-gambling. Why can’t we have laws that reflect this?
